Guillermo Vilas defeated Brian Gottfried in the final, 6–0, 6–3, 6–0 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1977 French Open.[1] It was his first major singles title.
Adriano Panatta was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Raúl Ramírez.[1]
