Template talk:Software distribution
This template is a messIt says "software distribution" -- which brings to my mind the impression that this is supposed to be an article about the business of software, of bringing goods to market. Forms of distribution, for example, would be retail software, digital purchase, mail order, p2p. But the articles it links to are a mixture of varying software categories, novelty software licenses, and basically any odd article ending in "ware". What is this template actually supposed to be about? Ham Pastrami (talk) 04:28, 23 March 2010 (UTC) I agree that title and use are not correlated. Although, term "software distribution" is not used only to describe process, but also as name for, usually open source, software collections. It is old Unix term that was accepted by first Linux collections and survived until this days as Linux distributions. The BSD is free Unix branch and has term "software distribution" in its name. Article Software distribution is enough to direct visitors to further reading. The only reason not to mark it for deletion is that its name should be changed, to prevent spread of wrong information, so there will be some work to fix all pages that contain this template. BTW, it was created with wrong idea what means its title. --Simon321 (talk) 01:40, 2 August 2010 (UTC) Could do with adding... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.104.78.164 (talk) 01:43, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't Abandonware be in the deceptive/illicit row?It is not a legally recognized term nor is the activity associated with it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.111.59.16 (talk) 00:49, 11 February 2013 (UTC) Additions ?Should be "retail" added as delivery method? And in the "Compensation models" row, crowdfunding (e.g. Kickstarter, "subscription model") could be added. Shaddim (talk) 13:13, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
