I noticed your recent change to the lead in Australia national association football team. Bolding "Soccceroos" and bringing it to the second sentence in the articles lead seems very pointy. It is specifically done to clarify the terms intended use through the article, which I have argued against. The accusation of disruption seemed to rest entirely upon me being aware of a consensus that cm were unacceptable in soccer-related articles. Imposing it wasn't agreeing to it I was assessing the consensus of editors who believed it was it was necessary along with their reasons. Based on the arguments which were made the main reasons were that you were failing to drop the WP:STICK and walk away which had reached the point of being disruptive. No worries. When you've got a number of people, particularly when they are not involved, telling you (or reverting you, or discussing your edits) that there is a consensus against what you're doing or that you need to stop doing something then it can be disruptive to continue doing it and you are liable to be sanctioned to prevent it continuing. At this point, this discussion doesn't look like it's going anywhere constructive from now (especially considering your "or did I?" comment). The "or did I?" just meant that if I did, I've forgotten about it. Not at all an attempt to be cheeky or anything. I'm still genuinely baffled by the outcome of that discussion. Of course you don't have to respond helpfully. I just would have appreciated it if you did. I'm not silly, y'know. I'm aware of how that discussion looks to someone who just comes along and peruses the arguments in favour of the ban. But I thought that my responses to those arguments would be read and that the "evidence" of my disruption would be evaluated critically. You say "for the reasons the users have argued there". I'm seeking assurance that those reasons have been duly examined as per Wikipedia:Consensus#Determining_consensus. I apologize if this is annoying for you. Yes I looked at your replies however I found that given editors continued to support the ban (whether new editors voting or after them discussing with you) they didn't find them convincing enough. I don't necessarily want to appeal it. I just want to understand it. It seems that the sole reason it resulted in a block is because a number of editors voted support and zero editors voted oppose. I didn't think it was that simple. ...and that was your mistaken belief about the process of a topic ban. Topic bans occur in part when people refuse to drop the stick. Nobody was required to go back and read the previous discussions, because the Topic Ban discussion was more of a "fuck it, he won't stop arguing whether he was right or not". It also became a new-trial on whether you were doing the right thing or not, and the consensus was that no you were not - which now can over-ride any previous discussion. Yet, so many people tried to tell you all of this during the AN discussion - but instead of shutting up, you railed against them ... when ensured more "Support" !votes. Hi my name is Chris and here is the story of the Storms first mascot. When the storm first started to train at Gosch's paddock back in 98, Ben Anderson began to bring his staffy cross puppy "Jake" with him to training. Jake took a back seat but loved every minute (he told me so) and spent many sessions with the team, those boys will remember. Jake was shall we say was the unofficial mascot. 98 and 99 were amazing years for that young squad under the great Glen Lazarus as we know... Here's where Jake's value becomes apparent. Ben got a contract in the UK and left for greener pastures, Jake had to stay home with Grandpa (Chris Anderson) Melbournes coach and legend in his own right, we all know that. Anyways- Chris gets a new contract (let's not go there)..Jake, he gets a new home with Ben Roarty (99 across the line.. greatest try ever etc), anyhow JAKE is doin just fine with Roarts and his new mum- cheerleader Sonia, when guess what?! Roarts gets a contract with English team Huddersfield, up and leaves to seek his fortune, leaving Jake where? With Darren McIntosh, former AFL reserve player at North Melbourne and brother in law to Roarts. Jake has been responsible for some SERIOUS cattle deals! Back to reality. Jake loses a leg in a ball chasing incident around 2003 and becomes a tripod, this only increases his intensity at the ball and a year later due to unforseen circumstances, Jake changes carers for a fifth time and ends up with my family (I'm Roarts and Maccas other brother in law). Now let's get to the guts of the story. Jake has instilled in him EVERTHING that the first Storm team was all about. Tough? It's not the size of the dog. Determination? Try 11 years one leg down. You want hard? This dog carries 10 inch logs for the fire on three legs and goes back for more... I don't know Jakes exact age or all the details, but there are stories that should be told and his is worth telling. Jake is 16 as far as I can gather, he is almost blind and almost deaf and still as enthusiastic as that first team made him as a pup. How can you say that when I provided three links to show otherwise?! Links from the Bureau of Statistics and Roy Morgan. Rugby League is NOT a national sport in Australia and it is hardly an International sport.

Stick to the facts and be honest.

The sources you added are useful and should be incorporated further into Rugby league in Australia (if they're not already). Statements like the above indicate that you're driven by opinion rather than by sources, as is the Wikipedia way. You don't provide any data to support your statement and accuse me of opinion over facts?! You agree that my sources are useful, so you agree they are correct? The line reads quite clearly that RL in Aus is the most watched sport on TV which is incorrect. I came to this Wiki as I was interested to find out which year RL was created and I trust that the info is correct but when I read a claim like that I got my back up and made the change. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Rugby league. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

Hi, It’s nice to know someone is taking an interest in my hard work,

I had a quick look at your profile and it refers to the “the greatest game of all”, so I shouldn’t be disagreeing with someone who got that right, and with who I must have something in common

I Notice that you have been altering the introduction wording on my articles, as an example 1927 Yorkshire Cup. However, I disagree with your change to the wording, which now doesn’t make sense.

The Yorkshire cup is a metal article and not an occasion, and it was held by the winning captain/team, the occasion was the date. The articles were rough checked by several friends prior to entering on Wiki, and speaking to them since, they agree that “mine is better than yours”

Maybe my phrasing wasn’t perfect, but rather than both of us playing silly things, changing it backwards and forwards, I would like to hear more of your thoughts on the errors in my phrase I’m sure between us we can come up with the perfect answer, Thanks in anticipation Alan M Alanfromwakefield (talk) 15:39, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, Alanfromwakefield. Competent editors in this area are very few and far between, so more are always welcome. I take it this is the edit to which you're referring. I'm surprised that anyone could have a problem with it though, as I was just trying to bring the first paragraph into line with Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section. Also, according to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Layout#Body_sections, "The number of single-sentence paragraphs should be minimized, since they can inhibit the flow of the text...". "General information for those unfamiliar" did not seem like an appropriate section heading as per WP:TONE, and its contents seemed better suited to the the already-existing section entitled "Background". Also, If you look at the categories the article is in, it no longer sticks out at the front (being sorted by '1928'), but fits in alphabetically with all the others (being sorted by 'Yorkshire Cup'). Off Topic Question: Do you know if there is a way of turning off the AFCH error: user not listed popup. I know that you can click on it and it will disappear but I would like to know if there is a way turning it off permanently.

Hey Sticks old mate. Yep, long time no see :) you've been missed. When you're viewing a diff, next to "(undo)" there is also "(thank)". Yeah, I'm still spoilt for choice in what to work on though. I can never make my mind up! The Kangaroos/Lions tours' absence sticks out like a sore thumb the most. J Mo 101 has been a really good addition. Hi again, Alanfromwakefield. According to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Section_headings, "Citations should not be placed within or on the same line as section and subsection headings." I had to laugh Jeff when I saw that Youndbuckerz has just created a article on Jeremy Schloss. You might recall that you & I first met years ago over a "disagreement" we may have had on your Julian O'Neill article. I think I may have been a little zealous about wanting to expand on some of the less savoury aspects of Julian's history. There were AFL Grand finals listed in that category. ALL AFL Grand Finals are held in Melbourne. Listing all the individual games are completely unneccessary, you just list the AFL Grand Final category under Sport in Melbourne instead of list over 100 AFL finals indivdually.

As for the ANZAC test... are we going to start listing all Rugby League test matches by the location of the stadium? What is the importance of the location of the stadium to the event? Are we going to start listing ever Rugby League test match held at Lang Park under Sport in Brisbane? And what is the benefit to the reader? How many people will be looking for a Rugby League games based on the fact they thought it was in Melbourne?

I thought the original statement - referring to the number AFL finals unneccessarily listed in the category (which I also removed at the same time) might have gone some way to explaining how I wasn't giving special treatment. As to the civility? The assumption of my intent seemed uncivil to me, hence the response. Everything you say about the AFL Grand finals is true, and the NRL Grand finals are treated in a similar way with regard to Category:Sport in Sydney. So I don't think there's really anything to talk about there. I've actually given no indication of whether I agree with your edit or not (let alone been uncivil), probably because I haven't really formed an opinion about it yet. If you were intending to de-populate Category:Sport in Melbourne, I might have discussed helping out or maybe the idea of a sub-category along the lines of 'Sporting events in Melbourne'. However, since you aren't intending to de-populate it, it certainly does appear that you're giving the ANZAC Test special treatment. It must have some trait not shared by the other sporting events in that category that makes it somehow less worthy of inclusion. Because I'd actually had you earmarked as not being one of these rugby league-haters that are unfortunately so prevalent on Wikipedia (I hope I've not got my users mixed up!), I was curious to understand why.--Gibson Flying V (talk) 11:32, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

I stopped at the ANZAC test because I am under pressure to achieve some other things this evening and I decided not to go any further down the road of analysis of this category. I was only there to begin with as I was working on same incorrect catsorts in another category that connected to this. Your unilateral changes that you have made to a handful of Infobox swimmer heights flies in the face of uniform formatting for hundreds of Olympics swimming articles -- I know you think this m vs cm thing is important, and are on some sort of crusade to convert all heights on Wikipedia to centimeters. What you are doing is making unilateral changes to uniform formatting to articles that dozens of editors worked to establish. It's not my way, Dirtlawyer1, it's WP:SOURCES' way. I'm happy to discuss it with anyone who's willing. Shouldn't you be more concerned about flying in the face of sources' formatting? That just seems like a more important issue in my opinion. Now, I naturally respect WP:BRD, but if you must revert, please pay closer attention to what you're changing.[2] Change the units if you must, but please do not delete quality references or revert to erroneous information on those WP:BLPs.
